  • Old Kingdom (ca. 2700-2150 BC), the age of the pyramids;
  • First Intermediate Period (2150-2040), a chaotic period;
  • Middle Kingdom (2040-1640);
  • Second Intermediate Period or Hyksos period (1640-1550);
  • New Kingdom (1550-1070), with the 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasty (see below);
  • Third Intermediate Period (1070-712), with the 21st and 22nd Dynasty (see below);
